Behind the research of the different exposition topics that were given to us, we’ve decided that the ones that are more interesting for us are Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome and The Middle Age, because like they are further from the current age, there are many differences in the way of teaching and in the mains of the education. We’ve made research about Greece and the differences between girls and boys at school, the subjects, and over all the influence from greek philosophers caught our attention. This influence has a big importance in the actual education. As to Rome, it caught our attention that the principal role in education are parents instead of teachers. The knowledge wasn’t taught theoretically but from real situations, and we think that this way of learning should be in the current education. Moreover, the Ancient Rome education is influenced by the Ancient Greek education. And from The Middle Age we’ve found that the religion had a big role in education, and also the importance of the educational task from Carlo Magno.
As for the most current times, we found interesting the deschooling movement because it is a very radical movement, due to the thought that the school is an industry and they try to remove schools and learn using the internet, people, objects, investigate and learn with them. We’ve also made research in New school and progressive education which aim is to introduce the society in school, accompanying the study of the basic subjects with activities like cooking, sewing…
The theories of emancipation were arose in Ancient Rome and they try to achieve a state of autonomy.
Despite this, we prefer to research about Greece and Rome because we think they are the foundations of modern education. We believe that we can discover very interesting information that will help us to make a good presentation of these two topics and also learn for our professional future as teachers.
